Is TSA PreCheck Worth It?

Do you have TSA PreCheck, and is it worth it?  A study found it only saves an average of seven minutes, but they're a HARD seven minutes.

The average person with PreCheck said it takes 36 minutes to get through airport security.  That's compared to 43 minutes for everyone else.  (Does that include checking your bag?  Just getting through TSA feels like it can take more like five minutes with PreCheck.)

PreCheck people also get to the airport just as early:  1 hour and 41 minutes for domestic flights, compared to 1 hour and 47 minutes for non-PreCheckers.

They claim PreCheck makes the whole experience a lot less stressful, though.  On a scale from 1 to 10, people with PreCheck rated the stress of getting through security as a 3.4.  That's compared to a 7.3 before they signed up.

The poll also looked at the MOST stressful things about flying and gave three choices:  The TSA line . . . crying babies . . . and ending up in a middle seat.

Middle seats ranked first with about half the vote, and around 40% said crying babies.  Just over 10% ranked the security line #1.
